Bain Springs Sustainable Design
Perched on a high desert peak overlooking the city lights of Reno and Washoe Valley/Mt Rose this 3 bedroom home could only be powered by the Sun.
Unfortunately, the site location made the use of public utilities cost prohibitive. The solution was to implement a 100% off the grid design, utilizing both wind and solar power as well as Integrated Concrete Form construction. By leveraging 3D CAD technology we were able to enhance the design by calculating sun paths for eave window placement and structure orientation. Operable windows were positioned in dormers to take advantage of prevailing winds for daily cooling and circulation.
